DIY Wood Fireplace Screen

Hi there!  Are you getting ready for Christmas?? I have been non stop it seems and just need to slow down time to take in my favorite time of the year.  I think I say this every December.

I'm sharing a quick and so simple fireplace screen I made in less than 5 minutes with 2 items!  Our fireplace is big, and in when it's not being used, it can look like a big black hole in the family room. I love a nice wood stack fireplace.  I admire a wood slice screen,  I just don't feel like making it!
I stumbled on the best solution:  Contact paper.

Okay, honestly, I was thinking it would be a bust and I would just chuck it.  But I love it!  Of course I had to remove it to use our fireplace now that it is FREEZING out, but it will really look nice in the warmer months to come.  I can envision this on a faux fireplace as an inexpensive way to add texture and dimension as well.

I bought this roll from Amazon for about $25.

I measured out my fireplace opening and cut a spare piece of cardboard to fit the space, then adhered the contact paper to the cardboard.

Done!

Here's the big black hole before...

Here's the after...

Thanks for checking it out!
